Early C18 th Spanish walnut , polychrome and bone decorated vargueno on its original stand. The vargueno is a highly decorated walnut cabinet that rests on bun feet ,sitting on its original walnut stand with stretcher supports made of iron attached centrally to the underside of the stand and stretcher supports of the 4 turned legs at their base. The vargueno consists of 9 drawers . Two of the central drawers are hidden behind a very ornately detailed door with key. The decoration of each drawer consists of relief bone inlay decorated with flowers and foliage in a quatrefoil style pattern to the centre of each drawer and keyhole. More small detailed panels are decorated on either side with iron furniture like pegs to pull open each drawer. There are also 4 ,3 dimensional bone carved columns that stand as support to an arched relief detail to the top of each drawer. Every surface to the vargueno is decorated both 2 and 3 dimensionally making this a very tactile piece. Iron handle on either side . With keys to bothe the drawers and the central door disclosing the other 2 remaining drawers.
