A wonderful C19 th French burr elm Neo Classical bookcase/cabinet
The top piece to the bookcase has a bold architrave in elm with a detail in ebonised wood along the base of the architrave with ebony columns down either side of the glass fronted doors. The doors have unusual rounded corners to the glazed panels and gilt bronze mounts on the drawers and lower cupboard fronts as well as a central detailed decoration of an urn with olive and oak branches above the glazed panels. With magnificent monopodium supports either side of the cabinet and original glass panelled back again edged with the ebonised wood The lower section,cupboard has elm fronts to the two drawers and doors, the echoing of the ebonised wood around the panelled doors and ebonised columns to the base raised on ebonised lion paw feet. A C19 th piece of furniture with a real sharp contemporary feel.
