A very fine C19 th Chinese lacquered writing cabinet. made in two parts. The base has the desk compartment within. The drawer the width of the front is slender and pulls out so you can open the the desk and it be supported from the drawer below ,open the top section of the cabinet and behind two doors reveals a set of beautiful drawers and compartment, including a compartment to hang your fob watch and a glass fronted compartment with eglemese decorating the glass. All front and sides of the cabinet are decorated black lacquer gilt and deep red. the interior of the cabinet is all black and gilt flowers and foliage.This decoration continues down the 4 thin round legs of the base.The corners and locks are made of etched brass.
